Acupuncture
In acupuncture fine sterile needles are inserted at specific acupuncture points along the body that work to adjust the flow of qi (pronounced chee) related to a particular organ system or meridian. Balancing qi or vital energy helps the body maintain or return to a state of optimum health. In addition to traditional needling, acupuncture practice may include cupping, guasha (scraping), and/or the application of heat or topical herbs.
Shiatsu & Asian Bodywork
Asian bodywork includes shiatsu, tuina, acupressure and other techniques rooted in traditional Asian medicine. Asian bodywork relieves pain and stress, promotes the circulation of qi and blood and generally enhances the body's overall sense of balance and well being.
Herbal Medicine
Chinese herbal medicine is a complete system of natural pharmacology that follows the diagnostic principles of Asian medicine. It employs over 400 herbs, plants, minerals, and animal products in the treatment of illness and pain. Herbs can be administered in raw or powdered form to make tea, or in more convenient pills. Herbal medicine effectively addresses many common illnesses, acute and chronic.
Lifestyle and Dietary Therapy
We may recommend changes in your living and working environment, and/or in dietary habits according to Asian medical principles. Lifestyle and dietary therapy can be used to support the healing process and to help prevent recurrence of illness or pain.
